Nick G4FAL

Hi, welcome to my website and thank you for visiting.

I have had a Amateur Radio licence since I was a youth, which unfortunately is rather a long time! I started with the class B callsign G8JGY from 1974. I moved on to class A with the call G4FAL in 1976 when I passed the 12 words per minute morse test, which was required then.

I am an Electrical Engineer by profession; a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology - the UK Professional Institution for Electrical Engineers. I am also joint owner/director of a control systems engineering company - Riverside Automation Limited, which is also based in Sheffield.

I am a member of the Sheffield Amateur Radio Club.

Also I belong to WACRAL, (the World Association of Christian Radio Amateurs and Listeners), with membership number 393.

V4/G4FAL and V47CD

I will be operating from St Kitts in the Caribbean from Monday 3 March to Monday 10 March 2008. During the trip I will be operating in the RSGB Commonwealth Contest with the callsign V47CD.

The RSGB Commonwealth Contest is for British Commonwealth Countries and Mandated Territories only - see http://www.contesting.co.uk/hfcc/rules/2008/rberu.shtml for full details and contest rules. The contest coincides with the British Commonwealth Day. If you are eligible to participate then please call, I would love to work you.

I also hold the Malawi callsign 7Q7NT.

QSL details are on my news page. G4FAL, V4/G4FAL, V47CD and 7Q7NT logs are sent to LoTW so if you only want confirmation for DXCC then please don't send your QSL.

location

Sheffield City is located in the centre of England and is about 160 miles north of the capital London.

I am located in a Victorian Suburb of Sheffield, about 2 miles west of the city centre, called Nether Edge.

new QSL card

Football is another of my interests - my son Ben (15) and I have season tickets to watch Sheffield United. I also have two daughters, Rachel (21) and Anna (18). Anna has an amateur radio licence with the callsign M3HEE and Ben has the callsign M3XBT.

My current QSL Card shows Sheffield United in action in the English Championship. Carl Asaba has just scored the winning goal during a Bramall Lane encounter with Leicester City on 21 April 2003, assisted by Shaun Murphy as Wayne Allison looks on. The photograph was kindly provided by Sheffield United Football Club and is their copyright.

QSL details

Please QSL via the bureau. I will be pleased to send you a card also via the bureau.

If you want a card direct then please send a self-addressed envelope with 1 IRC or US$2 for postage, direct to my home address, and I will send a card directly to you.
